Nationwide Strikes: In December 2023, the All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) announced a series of strikes in response to important issues. The main demands are for sufficient recruitment and opposition to the outsourcing of permanent positions.

AIBEA’s December 2023 Strike Schedule

December 4: State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab and Sindh Bank, and Punjab National Bank (PNB) will all experience an all-India bank strike.

December 5: Bank of Baroda and Bank of India employees go on strike nationwide.

All India bank strike at Canara Bank and the Central Bank of India on December 6.

December 7: Indian Bank and UCO Bank employees go on strike nationwide.

December 8: Union Bank of India and Bank of Maharashtra are the sites of an all-India bank strike.

December 11: A bank strike at every private bank in India.

Demands and Concerns of AIBEA

Nationwide Strikes, The AIBEA’s general secretary, C H Venkatachalam, tweeted about the increase in unemployment from 2019 to 2023. The group is unwavering in its opposition to the outsourcing of ordinary jobs and in its desire for sufficient recruiting across all banks. The purpose of the strikes is to raise awareness of how urgently these employment-related problems in the banking industry need to be addressed.

National Involvement

Nationwide Strikes, The statewide strikes will be actively participated in by staff of both government and private banks according to AIEBA’s notification.
